Add Your Farm To The Directory

Want to see your farm added to the map? It’s easy! Choose between a Homesteader listing, Farm Business listing, or add your Farmer’s Market to the map for free.

Need help choosing a listing type?

We’re keeping it simple with just 3 listing types: homesteader, farm, and market. Read through these frequently asked questions to help you choose the right listing.

Does the listing include a website or a sales/checkout platform?

No. In order to make this directory the most useful we can for customers — while keeping your cost as low as possible — we’ve opted to NOT have any cart software on this directory for the time being. The primary goal of this directory is to make it quick and easy for potential customers to find the goods and farms they’re looking for to buy from, so for now that is our focus.

If you do not currently have an external website or checkout platform for your homestead or farm, please send an email to services@farmfreedcom.co to chat with us about how we can help you get started with a low-cost website.

Can I list more than one farm?

Of course you can! But each farm must have its own listing. Only do this if they are two truly unique and separate farms (but NOT if it’s all one farm that sells multiple things).

I sell my farm goods online but in more than one place/site. How will this affect my external links?

Each farm is limited to just one external link, which is why we can’t stress enough the value of having your own standalone website! See above for a link to get help creating a website for your farm, or email us at directory@farmfreedom.co to discuss your specific scenario.

Who exactly is the target audience for this directory? Who will see my farm?

Perhaps the right question to ask is actually “who WOULDN’T see my farm?”

Chances are good that although you’re a farm, you may not grow everything you eat. Do you shop from other nearby farms or would you like to? Congratulations, you’re also a farm consumer! You, others like you, and the population at large are all potential users of this site. Everyone eats, after all…

I came across this site and I’d like to list my farm but I guess in truth I’m more of a homestead/hobby farm. Can I still get a listing?

You bet! Even if you just toss your extra garden produce or eggs on a roadside stand now and then, it still helps a consumer buy farm-fresh goods if they know it’s there and they might be driving by! Just choose the “Homesteader Listing” from the options above to sign up.

If you ever scale up your operation to become a farm business, please email us at directory@farmfreedom.co so we can adjust your listing.

Can I write off the registration/membership fees as a business expense?

This is a question to ask your accountant to be extra sure, but in general, if you’re a legitimate business entity (DBA, LLC, etc) you should be able to write it off the monthly listing fee as an advertising/marketing expense. We are NOT tax professionals and this cannot be taken as advice for taxation/IRS matters, so please consult a certified accountant to be sure.

Why list your farm on the Farm Freedom Directory?

Connecting consumers to farms in their area, and connecting farms to potential customers can be a difficult task.

For example, when doing a simple Google search for “farms near me,” completely irrelevant results can often show on the map, with little to no options to filter or fix that. Some farms may not even show up until a user zooms wayyyyyyy in, which means the map is useless for those randomly hidden farms — as far as potential customers are concerned, that farm doesn’t even exist! I mean, the creator of this directory is a farmer and her own farm doesn’t even always show up on Google maps…even when she’s logged into her business Google account! Talk about a fail, Google. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Ever tried to find a new farm to connect with on social media? It’s a completely impossible game to play unless you already know the farm’s name.

This directory meets in the middle, and (in our humble opinion) provides a far better user experience for your potential customers than what’s out there, AND at an affordable price for you.

With our directory, it’s as intuitive to use as searching on the maps…except we’re only showing farms, not gas stations with “farm” in the name, or an antiques store with “farm” in the name…you get it.

Customers (and you!) can search the map by zip code to quickly narrow down the scope of their search by a default radius of 25 miles. Once they’ve zoomed into their target area, they can simply use the checkboxes and drop-downs to mix and match what they’re searching for and what they want their final product to look like. They’ll find beef that’s grass-fed only, eggs from free-range birds never fed soy, any farm that’s close and has bacon, and more, with just a couple of easy clicks! We haven’t found a site yet that offers that kind of ease of use.

Rather than scrolling a randomly-ordered list or looking at a tiny non-interactive map, users can intuitively find the right farms they’re looking to buy from, in just minutes, and quickly connect with them to order.

No more looking at farms one by one to scour their website or Facebook page and figure out if they even sell what you want to buy. No more wasting half an hour just to find a place to buy pork from!

(Farmers…keep an eye out for our future business-to-business directory to help you find local farms or vendors for all your farming needs, from feed suppliers to hay farms to places to buy feeder piglets from!)
